This is an organising circle centred on survival and solidarity infrastructures so our communities are better prepared for the collapse of the current systems.
This could look like skill-sharing workshops held with members and their communities. On topics such as:
- how to grow food on the street and on abandoned parcels of land
- how to recognise and forage fruits and herbs in urban areas
- how to fix and mend clothes, furnitures, electronics, etc
- developing a transformative justice framework (meaning, how we can care for each other without relying on the police and the prison system)
- how to look after each other and heal with community-based first aid and community defence practices
This could also include a tool library/library of things, timebanking, and other forms of solidarity economy that move us away from service-provider/service-user power imbalances.
The purpose is to collectively, as a network, build alternatives with our communities for the ecological, economic and political collapse that’s happening, while reducing the risk of fascism to step into that space.
Fascism thrives when people feel desperate, isolated, and without other alternatives. By building infrastructures of solidarity and survival, we can show our communities that other ways of existing, centering collective care, are possible.
At GM SC, we have already seen what we can do when grassroots organisations, collectives, artists and activists come together and seed new practices. This proposal builds on that by continuing to create alternative spaces for community care collectively.
