Following our Winter Members’ Meeting, members took part in an online vote where they were able to add comments and arguments alongside their votes. Below are the proposals that at least 50% of members (including those who abstained) agreed on:
A. Redistributing GM SC’s fund between members
Context: When Lankelly Chase decided to stop operating as a funder, they gave GM SC £540,000 to support us in putting our vision and mission into practice.
After the Autumn Members’ Meeting, members voted to redistribute this money (either equally, where everyone gets the same, or equitably, where there is a weighting based on various criteria, to be decided today).
It was also decided that members who wanted to put the money back into the network could do so.
A1. Regarding the unspent budget lines from the transition phase, members voted to move those funds into the redistribution pot.
A2. Following the allocation of any specific budget lines agreed below, members voted that GM SC will redistribute the fund among active members, with individual members receiving £5k each and organisation members receiving an equal split of the remainder.
A3. Members voted to exclude GM SC member organisations that have already received over £100k grants from GM SC and Lankelly Chase (as individuals, collectives, networks, or projects of those organisations).*
A4. Members voted that they should be able to reinvest their share into GM SC itself (i.e., in the redistribution pot) or specific GM SC members, collectives or organising circles. And that they should inform the Transition Team as soon as possible, with clear instructions on where they would like to reinvest the money instead.
A5. Members voted that existing GM SC collectives (i.e., the Food Security Network, the Universal Basic Income network and the Living Income Demonstrator) should be added to the GM SC members’ list for the redistribution, so they receive the same amount as member organisations.*
